Digital Radiography (digital x-rays)
The Family Dentistry in Maple is proud to offer our patients Digital X-Rays. The following is a list of the most obvious advantages to you our dental patients:
1. Reduced Exposure to Radiation. The amount of radiation used in digital x-rays is reduced by up to 75% over the conventional film x-rays.
2. Immediate & Convenient. The pictures are available to be viewed in seconds. If it is not satisfactory another x-ray can be taken right away. When we used film x-rays it took about 8 minutes to view and could not be seen on the computer screen. Now you the patient can easily see the x-rays and perhaps that makes the treatments easier to explain.
3. Better Quality. The quality of the x-ray is better and more consistant. The sensor we use is good for years before the quality of the x-ray is effected. Film had many variables such as developer and fixer and water quality which ultimately effected the quality of the final x-ray. Diagnosis is more accurate and retakes are less frequent.
4. Environmentally Friendly. Disposing of the fixer involved with processing the film was an environmental issue. We no longer have to use fixer so this is environmentally friendly and that's better for us all!
